4 Ways To Create New Revenue Streams With A Single Booklet

money-95793_1280When you become a booklet author, you’re giving yourself the opportunity to have multiple streams of income flowing into your bank account.  This is because booklets are versatile – they can be sold and used in a variety of ways.

Here are 4 ways to create new streams of revenue with your booklet:

1) Sales to individuals.  Selling to your individual readers can provide you with a steady stream of checks and money orders coming to your mail box and cash to your online bank account.  It’s fun to get up in the morning and see those checks in the mailbox or get online and see the sales you’ve made!

2) Sales to large quantity buyers.  Think big business, large corporations and the government.  These buyers purchase in huge quantities, from the thousands to the millions!

3) Sales to small quantity buyers.  These are your smaller businesses, associations, charities, and government institutions such as schools.  These buyers will purchase very small quantities of booklets to thousands of copies.

4) Repeat sales on a regular basis through licensing or automated delivery.  This is where you sell a certain amount of booklets to a particular quantity buyer, large or small, on a monthly, semi-monthly, half yearly or yearly basis.  These deals are great because once you’ve made the sale you can just continue delivering booklets and getting paid until it’s time to renew the license or contract.

Within each of these ideas are even more revenue streams!  For example, you may have sales to five quantity buyers, two of which are going to be repeat sales through a license.  Or, you might have three different types of businesses buying from you on a regular basis – each one providing you with a new stream of revenue.

There are so many different ways to create revenue streams with booklets!  How many can you think of?  Write your answers in the comments section below!

An Easy Way To Market Your Booklets And Yourself For Free

Free Neon-SignIt has recently come to my attention that some authors are questioning whether or not they should start a blog.  I find this unfathomable – first because these are writers we’re talking about and second because authors of every variety need as many marketing avenues as they can get that they can afford – and blogs are free!

Blogging is an essential part of your marketing.  Not only does it allow you to reach your audience for free, but they read it!

Think about all the marketing shoved in your direction every day.  Do you sit down and watch tv for the commercials?  No.  When the commercials come on, that’s when you get up to use the bathroom or grab something to eat or drink.  How about the billboards?  Do you drive around looking for them specifically?  No!  You probably don’t even notice them most of the time.  What about the advertising you see in magazines?  Is that why you read the magazine?  No!  You ignore the ads.  Close the magazine and you don’t remember which ads were in it.  How about the ads you see online?  Can you name one ad you saw yesterday?  How about since you turned on your computer today?  In the past 20 minutes?  I thought not.

All of the advertising methods above are expensive, with the exception of some online advertising.  And it’s all a big waste of money.  The only point to any of that is for a big company to get their logo in front of your face enough times for you to remember it.  It costs them millions of dollars, and it’s not all that effective.  For your own purposes it’s not even worth thinking about.

But, even the big companies blog.  In spite of all the money they waste on ineffective advertising, they do recognize a good thing when they see it.  And so should you!

A blog gives you the opportunity to connect with your audience in a way that you can’t with other advertising and marketing methods.  It allows you to have your say, to persuade, to teach, to show your expertise, to sparkle and to gain the trust of your audience.  It helps your audience get to know you and what you’re all about.  And, did I mention you can do this for free?!

You can sign up for all the rest of the social media you want to – facebook, twitter, pinterest, instagram and all the rest – but none of them can get your message across to your audience the way a blog can because each of these are set up for quick looks or 2 second reads.  You can’t go into any real depth with your subject matter.

As an example, if you go to my facebook page, you’ll see links to my blog posts but you won’t see any posts.  A post on facebook would be inappropriate because that’s not what the facebook platform is for.  I’ve seen people write lengthy posts on facebook, but they don’t get read.  That’s not why people go there.  People go to facebook to see what’s new or to get an overview of something, someone or a business.  They don’t go there to actually read anything.

But your blog – yeah!  They’ll read it all because that’s what they expect to do.  Of course you want to have content worth reading and break it up with some fun stuff and not make it too long….which this post is getting to be!

So blog!  If you don’t have a blog choose a blogging platform you like and start an account.  Then start writing and watch what happens!  Soon you’ll be getting comments and connecting with your audience – helping them to know, like and trust you more!

To your riches!

How To Maximize Your Marketing Dollars And Your Sales

executive-461657_1280If you’ve written or plan to write a booklet, you are or will be a small business owner.  Most small business owners focus on getting new customers in the door or to their website to sell them their products and services.  That is where they spend the majority of their marketing budget, and their time and energy.  But, this is a huge mistake!

While it’s important to keep fresh customers coming in, these are not the folks you want to focus on.  Why?  Because it costs you more time, energy and money to get a new customer than it does to sell to someone who has previously bought from you.

The people you really want to focus on are the customers you already have.  They’ve already proven that they know, like and trust you by spending their money with you.

Creating new products for the customers you already have will maximize your marketing dollars because each customer you get will now be a repeat customer.  And it will maximize your sales too!

Of course, when you’re just starting out and you have no customers yet your focus will be on getting new customers.  But, once you’ve made some sales you want to begin to focus on getting those customers to buy from you again by creating new products or services to offer them.

And then watch your business grow!

To your riches!

The Three Essential Keys To Making Money With Booklets

keys-366422_1280So you’ve been hanging out here on the blog for a while and you’re now ready to write your booklet.  Great!  Congratulations!  Here are three essential keys for making money in your booklet adventure:

1)  Be willing to learn.  There’s so much to discover when you’re a booklet newbie.  New opportunities will present themselves to you, giving you new learning experiences.  Some experiences may be more pleasant than others, but take it all in and at the end of the day ask yourself what you’ve learned.  Everything you learn will further your experience so you’ll be that much more ahead your next time around!

2) Be willing to invest in your booklet adventure.  Sometimes you’ll need to invest a little of your time.  Other times it will be a monetary investment.  Your booklet adventure is a business.  The more you are willing to invest in it the more you’ll get back out of it.  Every business owner, including myself, invests in their business.  I, personally, invest my time in writing blog posts (like this one!), in developing new products, and in marketing among other things.  And, I invest my money into books, business services such as web hosting, and training so I can stay up on the latest.  Start small, and grow your investment as you can.  That’s how your business will grow!

3) Have patience.  While you will get your booklet completed and on the market very quickly, growing a business takes time.  Be patient with yourself and your business.  Do all you can to facilitate growth, but realize that you won’t go from zero to a million overnight.  Building a steady following of customers takes a little time.  Stay the course, and work on it every day.  Each day you’ll make progress, and before you know it you’ll have the business of your dreams!
