Two Simple Steps To Getting Your Writing Done

Check MarkSo you’ve decided to write a booklet, and you’re very excited about it.  You can see it all now.  You’ve envisioned what your booklet will look like and how many millions of copies you’ll sell.  You can see the money rolling in like a tsunami heading for the shore.

Congratulations!  You’ve just taken the first step in your booklet adventure!  Now it’s time for you to take the second step – the one so many people never get to.  It’s time for you to sit down and write your booklet!

Don’t worry.  This isn’t going to take a lot of time.  But, you do need to get it done.  Without that first booklet you’ve got a great idea, but great ideas alone don’t make a business nor do they make money.  It’s time to act!

The reason so many people fail to write that first booklet is because they don’t make the time to do it.  They can make time for television, texting and surfing, but when it comes to getting the work done to push their business forward they have too many other things to do.

But, that’s not you!  That’s not you because you’re here on my blog, reading this post!

The truth is, you make time for the things that are most important to you.  I remember when I was a kid I loved Charlie’s Angels.  I made sure, every week, that at 9pm I was in front of that television.  It didn’t matter what else was going on, or whether or not I was even home.  If I had to be at someone else’s house I made sure their television would be available!

You have to do the same thing in order to get your booklet done.  You have to carve out the time to do it in your busy schedule.

First, decide where you’re going to write.  Will it be from home or somewhere else?  If you’re going to leave home I suggest writing in a quiet atmosphere, preferably a place that is calming and makes you feel good – like a luxury resort. No sense starting your first booklet at your local Starbucks if you can afford to wrap yourself in luxury for a weekend.  Of course if you can’t do this, Starbucks will do!

Next, decide what days you will write and how long you will write each day.  I wrote my first booklet from home, after dinner in the evenings.  I wrote every night, and two weeks later my booklet was done.

Once you’ve scheduled your time, stick to it!  No excuses!  You’re going to write during the time you’ve scheduled no matter what.  You’re going to write until your booklet manuscript is finished.

That’s how you get your booklet done!  Now it’s your turn!  Do the two steps above and get the writing done!
