Is Your Negativity Holding You Back?

You know the old saying that if you think you can you can, and if you think you can’t you can’t?  Well, I happen to believe it’s true.

So many people never get started, never even make an attempt to achieve their dreams because they don’t think they’ll be able to do it.  They have limited themselves by the power of their own mind.  But what really disturbs me is that I see this with writers and even published authors all the time.

Their complaints are common and tiresome.  It’s too hard to write a book.  Writing a book isn’t for the faint of heart.  You gotta slog your way through it, wracking your brain until you’ve sweated enough blood that you look like a shriveled up raisin sitting at your desk.  Distribution is difficult.  Self publishing is expensive.  And of course the biggie – marketing!  Everyone hates that!

While I will agree that writing a book of any kind is no small endeavor it is what you make it.  There will always be a few bumps in the road no matter how many times you’ve done it, but if you decide to go into it with a positive outlook you’re journey will be much happier.

Of course, the easier way is writing a booklet.  But even then if you don’t have a positive mind set you won’t be happy even if your booklet does well.

Some people will complain about anything.  In fact, some people look for things to complain about.  Don’t be one of them.  It’s not a good way to start your day or your booklet adventure.  Complaining only keeps you from solving problems and succeeding.  Winners are not whiners and whiners are not winners.

Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” ask, “How can I do this?”  And realize that you can’t do what you’ve always done or you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.  If at first you don’t succeed don’t just try again.  Change something!  Then try again.

Make it your goal to keep a positive outlook.  Booklets are the easier path, but that doesn’t mean that everything will always be smooth sailing.  Enjoy your successes and when a problem arises resolve to hit it head on with everything you’ve got!  That will get you past that problem in a hurry!

Having a negative mindset will only derail you from your goals.  Think positive! Do whatever it takes – pictures or posters in your workspace, little breaks from your work to go outside on a nice day and just enjoy the sunshine, turning on some uplifting or relaxing music, a cup of your favorite coffee or tea, a piece of chocolate.   Little things can go a long way toward lightening your mood!

Staying positive will help you reach your goals, and you’ll reach them faster!
