Sometimes in order to get the energy flowing in your business again, you need to get a fresh perspectiveone outside your own head.

You Only Know So Much

When you began your booklet adventure you were probably able to come up with a seemingly endless amount of ideas to fuel your vision of what your adventure would be like.  You planned and you schemed and you dreamed about your future.

But you can only take yourself so far.  You only know so much, and have so much experience.  Sooner or later your business and your income will level off – and you might be happy with what you have for a while.  But, if no further growth takes place, eventually your business and your income will begin to dwindle.

Getting A Bird’s Eye View

In order to stay in business and keep things rolling, you need to keep things fresh.  This means not only refreshing your current products and adding new ones, it also means staying current in your methods of doing business and discovering new ways to handle the details.  How? By seeking knowledge outside of your own.

No matter what it is that you need, there is someone who can provide it or tell you how to do it.  Sometimes, all you need is someone outside of your business to point you in the right direction.  Maybe you’re not sure what your next move should be.  You can’t see things clearly because your too wrapped up in your business.  You’ve got too much invested in it.  You’re too close to it.  But, someone on the outside who isn’t a part of your business can see things very clearly – with a bird’s eye view.

Use All Your Resources

Finding someone to help you see things from a fresh perspective or to show you a new or better way of doing things is EASY!  There are a myriad of professionals available to help you, and most are only a click away!  And best of all, you can take advantage of their expertise for free, unless you require more indepth, personalized help.  Search the internet and you’ll find websites, blogs and articles full of information that you can put to use in your business right now!

And professionals are not the only ones who can help you.  You can also talk to friends and family members who know what you do, but who are not wrapped up in the day to day workings of your business.  Often they can provide fresh insight to help you.

Beyond all of that, there are also online groups that you can participate in, as well as local groups that meet face to face just for the purpose of helping each other come up with fresh ideas to use in business.   And be on the look out for special speakers and seminars that come to your town too!

Revitalizing your business can be as simple as gaining a fresh perspective on a particular issue or area that’s been troubling you.  Take advantage of every resource you have!

Revitalizing Your Business – How To Get Your Booklet Adventure Back On Track And Moving Forward

Have you ever put up with something or someone out of convenience?  It’s human nature to want to do what’s easy, but in business this can be DEADLY!

When The Adventure Stalls

Think of your booklet publishing business like an adventure movie.  At times things will go extremely well and you’ll feel like cheering.  Other times you will be on the edge of your seat.  But, what if that adventure movie just didn’t go anywhere?  What if it was dull?  What if there were no real adventure at all?  You probably would feel that your money was wasted on that movie ticket.

Your booklet adventure is the same way.  Sometimes things are all working out great and you feel like you’re on top of the world.  Other times you find yourself anticipating something big.  But, if everything stalls and you allow it to stay that way, you’ve wasted your time and efforts up to this point.  You need to do whatever it takes to get things moving in the right direction again.

It’s Not Their Dream

The key word in the above paragraph is YOU.  This is YOUR booklet adventure.  YOU are the one in charge.  YOU are the one with the dream and vision of where you want to go.  Nobody else can do it for you because it’s not their dream, it’s yours. 

Sometimes in order to reach your goals you have to be willing to get your hands dirty or do the difficult thing instead of the easy thing – like giving someone the boot or changing the way you have always done something.  I have had to do this myself.  There were times in the past when people I had hired to do a job never met their deadlines.  A one time emergency from an otherwise dedicated worker I could overlook.  But when someone gives me excuse after excuse, or worse – doesn’t communicate at all, it’s time to give them the boot!

You Don’t Have Forever

This is your dream.  Nobody else will ever care about it as much as you do.  And nobody but you can make it happen.  Don’t put up with methods that don’t work.  If something isn’t working, change it now!  The sooner you make that change the sooner you’ll find something that does work, or that works better.

The same goes for anyone you hire to do a job for you – even if it’s a family member and you are not paying them for their help.  You don’t have forever.  You can’t put your life and your business on hold to accomodate someone else.  You need to keep your booklet adventure on track and moving forward, gaining momentum and building both equity and income.  The only way you can do that is with dedicated, motivated people.

If your business has stalled or become sluggish, take a look at your methods for getting things done and ask yourself if there is a better way of doing things.  And, take a look at the people who are helping you and ask yourself if they are an asset to you or a liability.  Once you answer those questions, you’ll know what you need to do!

Revitalizing Your Business – The Easy Way To Regain Your Enthusiasm And Generate New Streams Of Income

When you first began your booklet adventure, your excitement revolved around a single booklet.  But, after a while, you may feel like things are getting a little stale or the growth of your business isn’t happening as quickly as you would like.  When that happens, you need to refuel yourself and your business with the same kind of enthusiasm you had when you first started out.  This means it’s time for a brainstorming session!

A Million Heads Are Better Than Two

Most people don’t give brainstorming the credit it’s due, but it’s the first step in making something fresh and exciting happen.  As an example, the fall tv shows line-up is the result of brainstorming.  The tv execs have meetings with their underlings and everyone brings their ideas to the table.  The best ideas are given a green light to move to the next step.  But, you don’t need a staff of underlings in order to make this work for you.

You have, at your fingertips, the greatest “staff” anyone could ask for.  You’ve got the internet!  Before the internet a brainstorming session meant getting away by yourself and letting your mind go and seeing where it would take you.  That is one way to brainstorm, and sometimes it’s still a good way to do it.  But, today you have the power of millions of brains that you can access in seconds.  Simply go to your search engine and type in any subject you desire, and viola!  You’ve got hundreds, thousands or even millions of ideas right in front of you!

What You’re Looking For

Once you’ve got all those ideas in front of you, you need to sift through them a little and, just like those tv execs in the boardroom, you need to choose the ideas that will work best for you. 

What you’re looking for are new booklet ideas, new product ideas, and new market ideas.  Each of these are like a precious gems just waiting to be mined.  Just one new booklet can double your income!  So can a new product that compliments a booklet you already have on the market.  And a new market opens up a multitude of new sales opportunities!

It’s Easy!

Sometimes, a little brainstorming session with the internet is all that’s needed to reinfuse your energy and enthusiasm.  And, you don’t have to dig too deep.  You’ll get far more ideas than you can ever use, so just pick those off the top that spark your interest and run with them.  See where those ideas take you.  Spend a few minutes thinking about what you could do with each idea.  If it plays out well in your mind, move forward.  If not, grab another idea.

This is a very simple process that will not only generate new enthusiasm for you, but it will generate new steams of income as well – and that’s the whole point!  You’re not writing for a hobby.  You’re writing for RICHES!  Now go and get yours!

Revitalizing Your Business – How To Keep Stress From Ruining Your Day

You can’t think clearly when you’re overwhelmed and feeling burned out.  And since you’re the one at the top of the totem pole, if you’re overwhelmed and over stressed, that will set the pace for everything you do.

Sometimes, in order to revitalize your business, you need to revitalize yourself.  And the best way to begin is to try to keep yourself from getting overwhelmed and stressed out in the first place.  How?  By planning a little down time at various intervals.

Begin by planning a lunch break for yourself each day.  If you worked in a regular office, you would have a lunch break.  You would also have a couple of other, shorter breaks.  While these breaks seem necessary for things like using the restroom and eating, they actually accomplish more than simply filling your stomach or catching up on the latest gossip at the office.  Regularly planned breaks help to refresh your mind and your thinking so that when you return to your desk you’re ready to tackle the next task with renewed enthusiasm.

As the person on the top of the totem pole in your own publishing company, you don’t need a break to use the restroom.  But, like most people working from home, you’re probably tempted to work right through lunch, or at least eat in your work space.  This is a bad idea if you really want to get the most done that you can in a day.  It’s much better to take a break and have your lunch outside of your work area to give your mind a chance to rest.  There’s nothing relaxing about having lunch with your current project sitting there staring you in the face!

If you can, you should try to get out of the house (or office, if your publishing company has moved out of the home) at least one day per week for lunch, and more than that if you can afford it.  You don’t have to go far.  Choose a nice local  restaurant, or if it’s a nice day take a sack lunch to the park.

And, while you’re in the planning mood, don’t forget to plan your vacations too!  A week or two away from your work will do wonders for your psyche and your creativity!

Revitalizing Your Business – You Can’t Do It All Forever

Are you at a point in your booklet adventure where you feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done?  When you begin your adventure you’re the one wearing all the hats.  But, somewhere down the line you’re going to need to hand a few of those hats over to someone else.

You can either hire people to help you, or you can enlist free help from friends and family.  Or, you may be able t do a little of both.  Friends and family can read manuscripts and find errors or give you their candid opinions about whether or not they understand what your message is.  They can also give you feedback on the over all look of your booklet, both inside and out.

As your business grows, it may become necessary to hire people to help you with the things your friends and family can’t.  You might require a virtual assistant to take calls and messages for you and do other simple tasks that you no longer have the time for.  These people charge by the hour, and you only pay for the time you actually use.  And, since they are not an actual employee, you save a bundle of money as well as the hassles that go along with having employees.

You can’t do it all forever.  I’ve often said that Rome wasn’t built in a day, but neither was it built by a single individual.  If you really want your business to prosper and grow, you’ll need help to get where you want to go.  You’ll know when the time is right, and when that time comes don’t be afraid to enlist the help you need.  It will boost your energy and your profits!

Revitalizing Your Business – Are You Living Up To Your Ideals?

One of the reasons a booklet publisher will tire of their adventure is that they haven’t created a business that suits them.

When you first begin your booklet adventure, chances are you are basing your business model on what someone else has done.  This is only natural since your beginning ideas must come from somewhere.  You see what someone else has done and it sparks excitement in you.  But, trying to live up to someone else’s ideals doesn’t work for the long term.

If you are finding yourself burned out today, ask yourself what YOU want.  Take an objective look at your business and see if it is really going in the direction YOU want it to, and whether or not it is meeting YOUR goals.  Then, cut whatever isn’t working for you, and revamp your business to fit YOUR style.

Revitalizing Your Business – Try This Strategy If Your Booklet Has Been On The Market For A Year Or More

If you’re feeling a little burned out, or your business seems to have stagnated, hold on and keep reading!  Help is on the way!

Today we’ll start with something simple – something you’ve already got – your booklet.

You may be tired of looking at the same old booklet, giving the same old spiel to potential quantity buyers, or perhaps your sales have dwindled as your market has been saturated with your booklet.  An easy way to take care of this problem is to refresh your booklet.

Non-fiction authors do this all the time.  They refresh or update their books with new content and perhaps a new look.  Since nobody likes to have old information on hand, many people will buy the newly updated, refreshed version even if they have purchased before.

This will also help YOU to feel refreshed because you’ll have something new to work on.  You’ll find new information and new ideas that excite you, which you can add to your booklet, while deleting information that is outdated or no longer relevant.

A final plus to this idea is that it is inexpensive and takes very little time.  It’s far less expensive to update a current booklet than it is to create a new one.

If your booklet has been on the market for a year or longer, it might be time to refresh it.  When you do, you’ll see an increase in your sales and in your enthusiasm!
