Quick Tip: How To Be Rich AND Happy

Imagine, for a moment, that you have done it.  You’ve achieved your dreams of being a rich author.  Your booklet sales have gone through the roof.  You’ve developed other products, and you’re the owner of a growing and thriving publishing company that you can be proud of.  Congratulations!  But, are you happy?

As your business begins to grow and do well, you will be tempted to put more of yourself into the business. You’ll want to spend more time coming up with new ideas, creating new booklets and other products, and reaching new markets.  And while this is a good thing (you can’t rest on your laurels forever or your business will stagnate), it is also good to remember that MONEY IS ONLY ONE ASPECT OF WEALTH.

You should work hard, but you should also balance that work with the other areas of your life that are important to you – your social, spiritual, physical and family life.  If your work becomes your only priority, it doesn’t matter how much you love writing and publishing, burnout isn’t far behind.

Material riches are great, but they don’t last, nor do they satisfy for the long term.  Once you buy that boat, how long will it take before you want a bigger and better one?

There are many riches in your life. Material things are only one of them.  There are your friends, your family, your faith and your health.  Each of these is worthy of equal time in your life.  Make time for these things and your life will be so rich that money will simply be the icing on the cake!

To your riches!

Are You Really Qualified To Do This?

You’ve got an idea, or a goal – something you would like to do.  Maybe it’s writing that first booklet, or maybe it’s expanding your product line.  Or, maybe it’s offering classes or speaking about your booklet’s topic.  But, Whoa!  Wait a minute!  You’ve never done this before.  Are you really qualified?

Two Kinds Of People

There are two kinds of people in the world – those who achieve their dreams and those who don’t.  The ones who don’t outnumber the ones who do.  Why?  Because they don’t believe they have what it takes.  Either they don’t believe their idea is good enough, or they don’t believe they’re educated enough, or they don’t believe they have enough clout or credibility.  And the list goes on.

The ones who don’t believe they can do it are not looking at their situation from a realistic perspective. They’re caught up in their own web of unbelief, and they can’t see beyond it.

What The Achievers Do Differently

What about the ones who do achieve their dreams?  Do they really believe any differently than those who don’t reach their goals?

The truth is, the ones who do achieve their dreams have just as many doubts as the ones who don’t.  The difference is the people in the achievers’ group don’t allow their doubts to stop them. They have learned how to overcome their doubts and fears.

The achievers have the ability to look at the situation, analyze it, determine what needs to be done, and then do it. For example, if you wanted to write a booklet about the game of chess but you are not a professional player, you might be concerned that you don’t know enough about the game to write the booklet.  But, as someone with the mindset of an achiever, you would find a way to learn what you need to know in order to write that booklet.  This might include reading books, researching online, watching videos and/or DVD’s, getting involved in a chess club, and so on.

After immersing yourself in the game of chess for a short time, you would know enough to write your booklet.  You would be familiar with the game and able to not only give the basics of how to play, but also advice on a few good moves.

Join The Achievers

You don’t have to be the top expert in your subject to write your booklet or expand your products or teach a class.  You don’t have to be a professional chess player to write a booklet about chess.  There is always someone who knows less than you do, and who would appreciate any information you have to offer. There are plenty of people who don’t know how to play chess, but they would like to learn.  These people don’t care about becoming professional chess players.  They just want to learn how to play so they can get in on the fun and enjoy the game.  Your booklet, “Chess For Beginners” would help them do that.

You may not be qualified to tell professional chess players how to improve their game, although someday you could be.  But, it doesn’t matter.  Don’t worry about what you’re NOT qualified to do.  Look at what you ARE qualified to do.  If you’re qualified to give advice to beginners or amateurs, do that.  And stay immersed in your subject so that you can improve your knowledge.  As you improve, so will your qualifications.

Join the achievers group.  Look at what you need in order to be able to realize your dream, and see it as an opportunity to do something about it rather than brushing it aside.  Chances are you are qualified to do what you want to do on some level, and if you need a little more knowledge that’s an easy fix.

As for credibility and clout, those come with doing.  So get out there and do it!  The rest will follow!

To your riches!

Why A Simple Booklet Can Have A Big Impact

Today’s post is, in part, thanks to Larry Morrison – a long time reader and commentor on this blog, who said, “The simplest things can have the biggest impact.”  Congratulations Larry!  You’ve hit the nail exactly on the head!

Simplicity Is Good

A booklet is a simple thing.  It’s not lengthy or wordy.  It’s not intimidating.  It doesn’t require a long committement of time to get what you need from it.  It’s a simple publication in both it’s creation and its use.

And, because a booklet is a simple publication, it’s much more enticing to large quantity buyers – first, because your booklet will be of value to their customers, and second because your booklet will cost them far less than trying to give away full length books.

The Impact Of Booklets

While there is much more that could be said about simplicity, it is only half the equation.  Impact is the other half, and booklets can and do have a big impact in more ways than one! A booklet will impact your finances, and your lifestyle.  It will impact your audience by enhancing their lives in some way.  And it will impact the businesses who purchase from you, by enhancing their sales and their customer loyalty.

A booklet can also impact your future.  Rarely does one start out as the author of a single booklet and remain so forever. Your first booklet is simply the starting point of your adventure.  That first booklet will create an impact that will have a far reaching ripple effect, like a pebble thrown into the water.  Some time in the future, long after that first booklet has been written,  you will be able to look back and see the many things you have  accomplished and the true impact that one booklet had.

A booklet is a simple publication.  That means it is simple to write and produce.  But, it’s also a publication that will have a big impact on everyone it touches – from you, it’s author, to the audience for whom it is intended.  The simplest things can have the biggest impact. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

To your riches!

PS: Remember when I mentioned the ripple effect above?  Your booklet is the pebble. The ripple is the impact your booklet will have on your finances and the other areas of your life.  You can’t create the ripple without the pebble. If you’re ready to get started on your booklet, click here!

Quick Tip: Asking This Question Will Save You Time And Money

Do you ever feel like you’re going in circles but not really making any progress?  Once you begin your booklet adventure, it’s easy to get caught up in things that seem exciting and important, but aren’t relevant to your sales or your income.

From now on, when an opportunity presents itself to you or you find yourself faced with a decision regarding your booklet or any aspect of your business, ask yourself this question:  How will this help me make more money? If you can’t answer that question favorably, then it’s better to move on to the next opportunity or decision that needs to be made.

As you move forward in your booklet adventure, many opportunities will present themselves.  While on the surface they may seem like a good thing, if in the end these opportunities don’t add anything to your bank account, then they are not good opportunities for you. Your ultimate goal is to make money.  That’s why you’re in business.  If you don’t care about the money, then you don’t have a business.  You have a hobby.

Asking the question: How will this help me make more money?; will keep you from wasting time and money on things which are not profitable, and help you spend your efforts on those things that are.  Try it!

To your riches!

PS: Getting that booklet done is your first step to making more money.  But, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it.  The right way will help you create a salable booklet with as little out of pocket expenses as possible. The wrong way?  You don’t even want to go there!  If you’re ready to get that booklet done the right way, click here now!

Why Customer Complaints Are A Good Thing

What do you do when you get a customer who complains?  Do you panic, afraid that this customer will spread the word to others not to do business with you?  Or, do you do everything in your power to make this customer happy?

Complaints Are Your Opportunity To Shine

You should be doing your best to please your customers in everything you do – from writing your  booklets and creating other products to your shipping and everything in between.  But, when you get a complaint, you have a chance to really shine. This is when you really want to pull out all the stops.  Why?  Because a customer who complains and then feels that you took care of the complaint in a satisfactory manner will become even more loyal to you and your company than customers who never had a complaint.

Don’t Leave Your Customers Out In The Cold

A customer who feels that you took care of their problem feels like you care about them.  This is especially important in today’s world of cold business tactics and transactions.  So much business is done without any human contact between the customer and the business. Often the customer feels like they’ve been left out in the cold, even when there isn’t a problem.  So, when there is a problem and that problem is handled immediately, and in such a way that the customer feels like somebody really cares, the company who goes the extra mile will have the gratitude and the business of that customer for a long time to come.

Make Complaints Your Top Priority

In the world of booklet publishing complaints are usually few and far between, and the ones that do come in are usually very simple to solve.  But, how fast you take care of the situation and the manner in which you handle it – the amount of priority you place on it – is of extreme importance. It’s what makes the difference between losing a customer and having a customer who is more loyal than they were before.

No matter what the problem is, be willing to not only solve the problem, but to go the extra mile.  When you do, your customers will be elated to buy from you again, and they’ll be more likely to refer others to you too.

To your riches!

How To Create The Life You Want From The Dreams You Have

Have you ever seen an Andre Rieu performance, either live or on tv?  If you’re unfamiliar with Andre Rieu, he is a musician (violin) and orchestra leader.  But, his performances are over the top.  When you watch him, you can’t help but be mesmerized.  This is a man who performs with such engery and joy.  He clearly loves what he does.  But, he’s not the only one.

Happiness Is Good For You

Mr. Rieu’s orchestra is made up of some very lovely young ladies and gentlemen.  These people, all exquisitely dressed and groomed, literally glow with the same energy and excitement as their orchestra leader.  They seem completely absorbed by what they’re doing, yet completely passionate about it.

Each of these people are living their dream.  Learning to play a musical instrument and taking it to the professional level takes a fair amount of dedication and hard work.  If it isn’t your dream, if you don’t wake up thinking about it and go to sleep thinking about it, you’ll never make it. But, if it is your dream and you desire it so passionately that you’ll stop at nothing to achieve it, once you do it’s going to show.

In Andre’s orchestra there isn’t one sour face.  Everyone is the picture of health and happiness.  That’s what living your dream does for you.  It makes you healthy and happy. When you’re truly happy, you’re not stressed and you feel good.  Good feelings are good for you. In fact, there was a medical study done several years ago that proved that laughter and happy feelings really are good medicine, and can actually aide healing in those who are ill.

Bits And Pieces Are Enough To Start

What’s your dream?  Is it to write a best seller?  Is it to help people with the information and/or experience you possess?  Is it to live a better lifestyle?  Is it simply to have less stress and be happy?  Maybe your dream includes all of the above.  Well, why not?

There’s an old saying that says if you can dream it, you can achieve it.  And for the most part this is true.  But where do you begin? You start by figuring out exactly what it is you want, and you go from there.  Before you can achieve your dream, you first have to know what that dream is.  You have to have a goal to work toward.

So many people don’t know what they want.  They go through life, slugging along in a job they hate, living paycheck to paycheck.  They want something better but they don’t know what that something better looks like.  They don’t have a clear picture in their mind’s eye of what a better life would look like for them. They might have bits and pieces, such as they want more money, or they want to work less hours, but these are just fragments of dreams that aren’t connected to anything concrete.

If all you have are bits and pieces of a dream, the good news is you have something to work with. All you need to do is ask yourself a few questions and find the answers to fill in the blanks.   You want more money?  Great.  You can have that.  How do you want to achieve that goal?  By writing?  Terrific!  What do you want to write about?  Baseball?  Okay.  Now you’ve got something to work with, and you can research it and go from there.

It’s About The Adventure

Of course, if you’ve got a dream with more details, that’s great too!  You’ll never have all the details or every step worked out ahead of time.  But just working toward your dreams and goals will make you much happier than sitting around wishing, because you’re making progress toward something you truly want.

The ultimate goal isn’t really achieving your dream.  It’s about doing what you love and living the lifestyle you want to live.  And once you achieve your dream, you’ll find that you want to do even more.  All those beautiful, happy people in Andre’s orchestra are thrilled to be there, but you can bet they each have goals and ambitions beyond where they are today.  They got to where they are by being very passionate and very good at what they do.  They’ve achieved a dream.  But, now that they are there, they have new dreams to achieve.  That’s just human nature.  It’s never really about the destination.  It’s about the adventure along the way.

Figure out what your dream is, and when you get there, dream new dreams.  No matter how wonderful and perfect things are, you can always have more and do better. Your booklet is selling like gangbusters?  Great!  Why not follow it up with a sequel to offer to the same market?  You just bought that new home because you finally qualified thanks to your boost in income from your booklet?  Terrific!  Time to go get new furniture.  You just became a new grandparent?  Fantastic!  Time to start a college fund!  You see, dreams aren’t always something you need to work toward – such as being a new grandparent.  Nobody works toward that, but you can dream of helping to send that grandchild to college one day.

Happiness – it all starts with a dream.  Dreams are the force that instills in us the drive to achieve.  And yes, they do come true.  What’s yours?

To your riches!

Quick Tip: Diversification – The Big Secret To Raking In The Riches In Booklet Publishing

One of the biggest secrets to raking in the riches in any business is diversification.  And, no business lends itself to diversity better than booklet publishing.

The more you can diversify your business, the more money you can make. What does this mean?  It means having more to offer your market, and having more markets to offer your products and booklets to.

You can diversify just about anything in your booklet business – your booklets, your products, your services, and even your market.  How?  By creating new formats, new products,  new services, and new markets.

For example, if your booklet business consists of one published booklet which you are currently selling to one market, you can create other formats of that same booklet, such as a cd, to offer that same market.  You can also create other booklets to sell to that market.  And you can create new services, such as speaking, to offer that same market.

Then, you can take all of those things and find new markets that would be interested in them.  If, for example, you are selling to corporations, you might diversify by also selling to small businesses.  Or, if you are selling to individuals, you might diversify by selling to a different niche group of individuals closely related to your current group, or market.

There are so many ways you can diversify your booklet publishing business.  You can start slow, or you can do several at once.  But, each time you diversify, you multiply your riches!
