Two Simple Ways To Generate More Income From Your Booklet

You’ve created your first booklet and made a few sales.  Things are going well, but they could always be better.   You want to generate more income.  But how?  There are two ways you can do this.

The Easiest Way To Make More Money From Your Booklet

The easiest way to make more money from your booklet is to raise the price.  If you’re booklet is selling well, you know your information is good and it’s worth something to your market.  This means your information is valuable to a specific group of people, who would likely be willing to pay more than what you are currently asking for it.  It’s just a question of how much more they would be willing to pay.

If you’re concerned about raising your price, worried that it will scare some people away, don’t be.  Most people will be willing to pay more as long as your information is helpful to them.  The few that won’t pay more probably won’t pay your current price either.

More Choices For Your Market = More Income For You

Another way to generate more income from your booklet is to create other products from it.  You can use your current manuscript to create CD’s, MP3’s, and an e-booklet version of your printed booklet. This gives your readers more choices as to how they would like your information presented to them.

But, you don’t have to stop there.  You can get as creative as you would like to – perhaps creating a DVD version of your booklet, or writing spin-off titles that are related but have different information in them.  You might want to create a workbook or workbooklet to go along with your booklet, or you might even offer a class online or off for those who want further information after reading your booklet.  There’s no end to the possibilities of what you can create – and each item on the list adds to your inventory and your bank account!

It’s Not All Or Nothing – Why Not Do Both?

Of course, the best way to generate more income from your booklet is to do BOTH of the above.  Most people don’t charge enough for their goods or services.  You don’t have to raise your prices sky high.  Even a small hike in your pricing will generate significantly more income for you collectively.

Then, develop more products and broaden your product line so your readers can come back for more.  Your readers will be happy, and so will you!

To your riches!

Why A Finished Booklet Is Better Than A Perfect Manuscript

Are you worried about putting your booklet in the marketplace because you don’t think it’s good enough for publication yet?  Do you continually make changes to your manuscript – adding or deleting information or scrutinizing your text for errors?  If either of these scenarios describes you, there’s something you need to know – a finished booklet is better than a perfect manuscript.

Do Your Best, Then Let It Go

Your booklet will never be perfect.  There will always be something you have overlooked, and editors don’t always catch everything either. Also, editors can’t predict how your booklet will do in the marketplace even when they do catch all the grammatical errors within your manuscript.

All you can do is all you can do, but the good news is all you can do is enough. This means you do your very best, and then you let it go.  There has to come a time when you stop scrutinizing your manuscript or second guessing yourself, and you call it done. And that time should come fairly soon after your first draft is completed.

Reap The Riches Or Reap Nothing – It’s Up To You

To delay finishing your manuscript means to delay getting it into the marketplace – into the hands of those who need it.  Your booklet can’t help anyone if it’s never finished, and isn’t that one of the things you hope to achieve – to help others with your information?

Also, delaying publication of your booklet means delaying your income from that booklet.  In order to reap the riches from your booklet, it needs to be finished and available for sale.

An Ever Changing Marketplace Means Your Booklet Can Never Be Perfect

Once your booklet is on the market, you’ll discover changes that need to be made that you could never have discovered otherwise. These changes may come about as the result of a changing marketplace, or you may receive information you didn’t have access to before.  This is something you can’t predict before your booklet is published.  Therefore, even if you could turn out a perfect manuscript, it wouldn’t stay perfect.  There will always be changes to make down the road.

Do the best you can do, and then let it go.  This doesn’t mean that you turn out a sloppy product.  It means you create a booklet that is focused and complete, and as good as you can make it right now. And later if changes are in order, you’ll take care of them then.  A booklet that is in the marketplace will bring you riches, a manuscript that is continually re-worked won’t.

To your riches,

Kim

Quick Tip: It’s All In How You Look At It

Every day you are presented with two choices in any given situation.  The first is to see the obstacles, and the second is to see opportunities.

There are many talented writers who will never write a booklet because they only see obstacles.  Others see opportunity.  They are the ones who will succeed.

How about you?  No matter where you are in your booklet adventure, there are always opportunities if you’re willing to seek them.  We’re always better at finding the obstacles because they seem to jump out at us, but if you look closely, you’ll see beyond them.

Start training your mind to look for opportunities today and you’ll be amazed at how many of them present themselves to you!

How To Build A Solid, Income Producing Booklet Business

Are you exactly where you want to be in your booklet adventure and in your life right now?  If you’re honest, you’ll say no.  Think back to five years in the past.  Where did you want to be today?  What things did you want to have accomplished?  What goals did you have back then that you haven’t realized today?  Why do you think you didn’t realize those goals?

Why You’re Not Living The Life You Dreamed Of Five Years Ago

The main reason your goals are not realized and you are not living the life today that you dreamed of five years ago is that your priorities are mixed up. From the moment you wake up in the morning, you set your priorities for the day.  If you have created a to-do list the night before, your priorities are set and you have a guideline to help you get things done.  If you didn’t, you’ll prioritize your day as things happen to you.

Prioritizing your goals means they are in the front of your mind and you are driven to achieve them because they are at the top of your list of things to do – whether you’ve actually written down your list or not.  It means getting these things done is highly important, and you’re going to do what it takes to make it happen. This is the attitude you must have in order to achieve anything in life, booklets included.

How To Make Sure That Five Years From Now You Are Living The Life You Want

So, how do you prioritize your goals and your day to make sure that five years from today you ARE living the life of your dreams?  It’s easy.  First, you must decide what is most important to you.  Decide what you really want. Do you want to be a booklet author exclusively, making a living from your knowledge and your writing?  You can do it.

If you’ve already made that decision and you’re living out your booklet adventure, then you need to decide where you want your adventure to take you.    What is your next step? Is it a second booklet?  Is it more products?  Is it a class or public speaking?  Once you know where you want to go and what your goal is, you can then make that goal a priority.

Do You Want To Write For Fun Or For Money?

Once you know what your goal is and you have your priorities straight, you need to take CONTINUAL action until your goal is achieved. This means you can’t start and then drop the ball.  If you do, then everything you did before you quit was just wasted time and you’ll be right back where you started.

Think of yourself like an athlete, but instead of practicing a sport you practice the craft of writing and running a business around your craft.  Athletes have to work hard every day to maintain their endurance and stamina in order to be able to compete and have a real chance to win.  They give themselves every advantage – from staying in shape, to eating right, to practicing their sport every day.  They keep their eye on the prize because they’ve made it a priority.

In contrast, think of someone who is not an athlete but enjoys playing a little basketball now and then – maybe with the kids once in a while.  While this person enjoys basketball, it’s not a priority for them.  Rather, it’s a way to enjoy time with the kids – which is really their priority.  This person doesn’t care about winning a game or being the best player, and that’s fine because making a living from basketball is not their goal.

Which athlete would you rather be like?  If you want to be like the first one, you need to make your booklet business a major priority and take it seriously. If you want to be like the second one, then your writing will be something you do for fun and not for money.

Decide what you want.  Prioritize.  Take constant and continual action until you achieve your goal.  This is how you build a solid, income producing booklet business – and achieve anything else in life.

To your riches!

Counting The Cost Of Booklet Writing And Production: Are You Willing To Do What It Takes To Make It Happen?

Writing and producing booklets is far less costly in both time and money than writing and producing books.  But, if you think you can skate right on through your booklet adventure without ever having to pay a dime, then think again!

What Writing Your Booklet Will Cost You

There are many ways to write and publish a book today.  You can write it yourself or hire a ghost writer to do it for you.  You can self publish through a myriad of different means both online and off, or you can go the traditional route and try to find a publisher for your book.

Booklets, however, generally have only one way of being written – by you. Sure, you could hire a ghost writer, but most booklet authors enjoy writing and have something they want to say to their audience in their own words.  Either way, however, you’re going to pay something. Ghost writers don’t come cheap (and if you find a cheap one – RUN!), and writing your booklet yourself will cost you a little time – maybe a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks.

Counting The Cost Of Production

Booklet production will cost you something too.  Printed hard copies are not free.  And even if you plan to sell your booklet only as a download online, you’re going to have to pay someone to design and format it, unless you are talented in that area in which case, once again, you’ll pay in time.

Also, if you’re planning to sell e-booklets rather than hard copies, you will need a way to do that – a website, a blog, a contract with another website.  That will cost you something too.

Granted, these costs are not large ones – certainly nothing compared to writing a full length book.  But, they are something to consider.

Are You Willing To Pay The Price?

Nothing worthwhile is ever free. There is always a price to pay.  It may be money, or it may be time, or it may be some other sacrifice.  The only question is, are you willing to pay the price?

If worthwhile things were free, they would lose their value.  If diamonds were free, they would no longer be priceless in terms of great value, they would be akin to plain, old rocks – priceless because of their lack of value, and nobody would desire them.  But, diamonds are something that have to be mined and cultivated and cut.  It takes time from nature and work from men to create a beautiful diamond – making them something of value.

Your booklet and your booklet business are like that diamond.  They are a thing of beauty waiting to be cultivated.  They are something worthwhile and something valuable.  Are you willing to pay the price and do what it takes to make it happen?
